Follow-Up Visits
Does Dr. Stein offer televisit appointments, or telemedicine?
Dr. Stein’s appointments are via secure telemedicine visits. There are no “walk-in” telepsychiatry visits and they need to be scheduled in advance through the patient portal. Patients attending a televisit must concurrently be located in the State of California, must have confidence in the security and speed of their internet and WIFI, and their physical privacy. Dr. Stein’s mailing address is as above, but at this time only virtual appointments are available.
How often do I need to come in for Follow-up visits?
At each visit, Dr. Stein will recommend when you should set up your next follow-up. This typically means weekly to monthly 45 minute appointments initially, depending on your psychiatric history and symptoms. As symptoms improve, we may increase time between visits, potentially limiting them to every 3 months.
How do I schedule follow-up visits?
Usually Dr. Stein will schedule follow-up visits at the completion of each session. The fastest and easiest way to cancel or request a follow-up in-between appointments is by using the patient portal online scheduler, which can be accessed HERE; otherwise you can call the office at 310-529-6051 or message us.
How do I reach you between visits for non-urgent questions or requests?
If you have a non-urgent clinical or administrative question, you can message us or leave a voice message. Cancelations and reschedules should not be left via email. See above section on How do I handle prescription refills?
What should I do in case of a clinical emergency?
If you are experiencing a life-threatening situation or an emergency, please call 911 and/or go to your nearest emergency department; then have them call the office and leave an urgent message for Dr. Stein or the covering doctor at 310-529-6051.
What should I do in urgent clinical situations that are not life threatening but cannot wait for the Office to check messages?
Only for already-established patients: Call the office at 310-529-6051 and select the Urgent option and leave a slow and clear message that will be transcribed and messaged to Dr. Stein or follow instructions on how to reach the covering doctor. If you do not receive a callback within 2 hours, please assume technical error and call again.
