More Evidence Showing Efficacy of TMS for Depression

Depression has a new treatment that is FDA-approved, non-invasive, outpatient, proven, and does not require medications – TMS, or transcranial magnetic stimulation.  TMS involves the scalp placement of a small, MRI-strength magnet to stimulate very specific parts of the brain in order to treat depression.

NARSAD Grantee Linda Carpenter, M.D., is the lead author of a newly published study that demonstrates for the first time that transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an effective treatment for depression in real-life clinical practice settings.
